A. Thanks for the reply im checking with doctor tomorrow!! She makes ahh oohh sounds and she does responds to name and sounds and even play with us. Yesterday even she tried imitating blowing raspberries!! But what happened to the babbling part i dont know . I ll check the same with doctor. She is not started to gestures or pointing yet but she knows to give hi five and shake hand though. I observed that she just started to use her index finger to touch things at.

A. It’s understandable to feel worried when your baby suddenly stops babbling, especially if she was saying sounds like “papa” or “baba” earlier. At 8.5 months, babbling is a key developmental milestone, but some variation is normal. Here’s what you can consider: 1. Observe Her Other Behaviors Ask yourself: Is she making any vocal sounds (like cooing, grunting, squealing)? Is she responding to sounds or voices? Does she make eye contact and smile at you or others? Is she showing interest in her surroundings and trying to communicate in other ways (gestures, pointing, reaching)? If most of these are still happening, it may be a temporary pause due to: Teething discomfort Minor illness (like cold or ear infection) Developmental shift (she may be focused on physical milestones like crawling or standing) 2. Stimulate Her Language Development Talk to her frequently, even if she’s quiet. Sing songs, read books, and describe what you’re doing. Repeat her name, use fun sounds, and encourage back-and-forth play. 3. When to See a Doctor It’s time to check with your pediatrician or a developmental specialist if: She’s completely silent — no cooing, babbling, or other vocal sounds. She doesn’t respond to her name or familiar sounds. She avoids eye contact or shows no social engagement. You notice any regression (loss of skills she had before). Since it's been 2.5 weeks, I recommend scheduling a check-up with her pediatrician to rule out hearing issues (like fluid in the ears) or other concerns. Would you like help tracking her other milestones to discuss with the doctor?
