UMA SHASTRIMom of 2 children2 years agoA. Hi!! You should ideally feed your baby every 2-3 hours for exclusively breastfeeding. Ideal feedig time should be 10-15 minutes or even 20 minutes as breast milk contains foremilk that comes initially when baby starts sucking and after sometime especially at the end of a feed transitions into hindmilk (fattier part of milk) that helps in the weight gain, hence to nurse as much as from one side to get the hind milk more. And then to switch side especially if baby itself detaches from the breast by itself.
Also, note the below points:
1. Pee count should be 6+. Poop can be 7 times 1 day or 1 time in 7 days.
2. Baby is satisfied after feeds
3. Baby sleeps well between feeds or is active
4. Weight gain is minimum 500 gms per month
If all the above points are fulfilled then you should not worry much about time gap between feedings but follow demand feeding (Feeding whenever the baby wants or asks for)
