This is common when babies start solids. To help, offer extra breast milk or formula for hydration, and if your doctor has already started solids, give pureed fruits like prunes, pears, or apples, and vegetables like pumpkin or spinach to soften the stool. Avoid giving rice cereal or bananas for now, as they can worsen constipation. Gently massage the baby’s tummy and do bicycle leg movements to relieve discomfort. If the constipation continues or causes pain or bleeding, consult your pediatrician.
