Q.

Hi my baby is 2m old she had her 6 weeks vaccine today in a govt hospital. They give 3 injection and oral drop. And gave paracetamol tablet and told to cut that in 4 piece’s and gavi to baby. Can i give that to my baby for fever after vaccine?

A. Post vaccination swelling may be a common thing specially after DPT vaccine which may be painful for two or three days and the swelling may remain even up to month so if it is not causing any pain or other symptoms nothing to worry. Swelling can be reduced by giving ice fomentationg locally and paracetamol can be given for fever or pain. Thrombophobe ointment hcan be applied in acute pain and swelling .

A. If you can manage to break the medicine into four pieces and give it to the child and please go ahead with giving it is going to be completely on your comfort otherwise in normal course of life for initial 5 to 7 years to 8 years in fact rather I would say the doctors prefer giving oral medication like drops Shifu want any suggestion on that you can go ahead with giving Calpol 0.5 ML after every six hours if needed
