Q.

Hi my baby is 1month old her direct bilirubin is 0.59 mg/dl , indirect bilirubin is 9.14 mg/dl,total bilirubin is 9.73 mg/dl is anything to worry ???

A. doctor advices that by breast feeding ,jaundice can be reduced nothing to worry

Q. Hi, my baby is 1 month 9 days old no formula only breastfed. At birth, the bilirubin levels were: Total bilirubin: 10.0 mg/dL Direct bilirubin: 0.70 mg/dL Indirect bilirubin: 9.30 mg/dL Current levels are: Total bilirubin: 10.7 mg/dL Conjugated bilirubin: 2.0 mg/dL Unconjugated bilirubin: 8.7 mg/dL So while the total bilirubin is only slightly higher, the direct/conjugated bilirubin has increased significantly from 0.70 to 2.0 mg/dL. Our paediatrician has suggested a liver ultrasound in a couple of days, but I am just trying to put my mind at ease in the meantime. Could someone help me understand what this change might indicate? Does this still suggest jaundice, and is phototherapy usually required in this situation?
