Q.

Hi my baby is 10 months 2 weeks old .she fell down from cot yesterday very mild swelling in her fore head. I kept ice bag in her forehead. she is fine..my question is have take her to dr. or not ????

A. Any Fall injury specially head injury needs to be assessed properly . In any such case certain symptoms needs to be checked like loss of consciousness reccurrent vomiting or any abnormal moment or convulsions . Such case needs immediate medical intervention as there could be some internal injury . Otherwise application of ice locally to reduce the swelling and pain can be done along with some analgesic like paracetamol. Recurrent fall injury for a child should be avoided as it can lead to some chronic manifestations occuiasionally . Also teeth injury should be rule out in any such casre which is commonly associated and can be easily missed out most of the time .
