Q.

hi.. my baby is 1 year old. as of now he walks, babbles, says some words clearly, points to things he wants etc. my only concern is he doesn't clap or say hi and bye when asked to. he waves his hand at times when prompted but that's it. I am wondering if this is okay. pls let me know.

A. Regarding Speech Baby usually start mono syllable by 6 to 7 months of age then by syllable words come by 9 to 10 months of age then by 12 to 14 months of age baby say two to three words followed by jargon speech at 15-16 months . child can start saying simple sentences by two years of age . just make the child comfortable and do more interaction with the child so that he can learn to speak sentences propervly. if the speech does nokt comes even vby three years of age you need to consult your doctor for a proper assessment of the child .

Ed Yes it is absolutely okay you are just overthinking if your child is flapping the hands or saying you know bye-bye in that manner but not with words that’s completely alright a lot of child kids will do when you say okay see bye-bye they just flap their hands that’s completely normal please don’t worry about all these things the child is going up these things are not much more evident before the age of 1 1/2 years anyways
