POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy2 years agoA. Drool rash happens when your baby's skin is wet with saliva for long periods of time and becomes irritated. The rash often happens when a baby is teething; because they often have their hands or a teething ring in their mouth, saliva easily drips out of their mouth onto their face.Teething can cause babies to drool. The excess saliva this creates can irritate the skin around a baby's mouth, as well as their cheeks, chin, neck, or chest. This causes a teething rash. A teething rash may come and go during the months that a baby is teething.Apply a thin coat of a healing ointment like Aquaphor or petroleum jelly, which will act as a barrier between your baby's skin and the drool. These ointments can be soothing to your baby's irritated skin. At bath time, be sure to use a mild, unscented baby wash.
