Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 6 m old boy2 years agoA. It is very common that children less than 6 months of age may not pass stool for sometime 10 days also. Slight discomfort as well as straining while passing urine and stool is also normal. You have to just take care of colic pain as well as gas in the abdomen and do not worry about the frrequency of the stool if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid.d please note that intermittent crying that you see might be due to colic pain and not due to constipation.

Constipation and gas problem is very normal in the newborn babies just give your baby good massage with warm oil on his stomach clockwise and anticlockwise position and give him Tummy time daily do exercise with his legs in a cycling form apply hing water around his navel but not in the Navel as well .u can sometimes also give Woodward Gripe Water as directed by ur doctor. Gripe water is safe as long as it does not contain alcohol in it.
