A. You don’t need to worry — the tablet you took is safe and often prescribed in pregnancy as an alternative to regular folic acid. Here’s a breakdown to help you understand: ✅ What You Took: You took a methylated B-complex containing: L-methylfolate 1 mg → This is an active form of folic acid, and it's actually more bioavailable than plain folic acid. Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg → Active form of Vitamin B12, also beneficial. Pyridoxal-5-phosphate 0.5 mg → Active form of Vitamin B6, which helps with nausea and supports brain development. 🤰 Why This Is Safe in Pregnancy: L-methylfolate is safe and effective in pregnancy. Some women (due to MTHFR gene mutations) can’t convert folic acid to the active form well — so this version is even better. Methylcobalamin and Vitamin B6 are both recommended during pregnancy in safe doses. The amounts you took are within a safe limit for short-term use. You did not harm your baby by taking this tablet. In fact, this combination supports neural development and may even be used as a substitute for standard folic acid in some cases. 💊 Going Forward: If your doctor advised plain folic acid, continue that daily. If you're considering switching to the methylated version (like the one you took), you can ask your doctor. Many OB-GYNs approve this. 🛑 When to Worry? Only if you were taking megadoses (e.g., over 5 mg folate/day or high-dose B12 repeatedly without guidance) — which you are not. 💡 Bottom Line: No need to worry — this supplement is safe for you and your baby. If you still feel anxious, share the tablet name with your doctor at your next visit for confirmation. Let me know if you want me to help you set up a weekly pregnancy supplement chart or food plan!
