A. There are several Indian home remedies you can try to help alleviate phlegm in children: 1. **Turmeric Milk (Haldi Doodh):** Warm milk mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and can help soothe a sore throat and reduce phlegm. 2. **Ginger Honey Tea:** Boil slices of fresh ginger in water, strain, and add honey for sweetness. Ginger has expectorant properties that can help loosen phlegm, while honey soothes the throat. 3. **Ajwain Steam:** Boil water with ajwain (carom seeds) and allow your child to inhale the steam. Ajwain is known for its antimicrobial properties and can help clear congestion. 4. **Warm Salt Water Gargle:** Encourage your child to gargle with warm salt water to help soothe a sore throat and loosen phlegm. 5. **Tulsi (Holy Basil) Leaves:** Boil fresh tulsi leaves in water and give your child the warm infusion to drink. Tulsi is believed to have antimicrobial properties and can help relieve respiratory symptoms. 6. **Warm Compress:** Applying a warm compress to your child's chest can help loosen mucus and provide relief from chest congestion. 7. **Nasal Saline Drops:** Using saline drops or spray in your child's nostrils can help moisturize and clear nasal passages, reducing congestion and phlegm. Remember to consult with a healthcare professional if your child's symptoms persist or worsen. These home remedies can provide relief, but they should not replace medical treatment if necessary.
