A. Transitioning a 14-month-old from pureed to textured or finger foods involves a gradual approach. Here are some tips: 1. **Gradual Changes:** Introduce textured foods gradually. Begin by making the purees slightly thicker and chunkier over time. 2. **Finger Foods:** Introduce age-appropriate finger foods like soft fruits, small pieces of well-cooked vegetables, or soft cheese. These allow your child to practice self-feeding. 3. **Texture Exploration:** Encourage exploration of different textures. Offer foods with varying consistencies to stimulate your baby's interest. 4. **Model Eating:** Sit and eat together. Children often mimic the behavior of adults, and seeing you eat textured foods may encourage them to try it too. 5. **Positive Reinforcement:** Praise and positively reinforce attempts to eat textured foods. Create a positive environment around mealtimes. 6. **Be Patient:** Understand that the transition might take time. Be patient, and avoid pressuring your child to eat. Always prioritize safety and ensure that foods are cut into small, manageable pieces to prevent choking. If you have concerns about your child's eating habits, consult with your pediatrician for personalized guidance.
