Hi Doctor, My baby boy is 18 months old. He understands everything what we speak to him. He only uses one word like mama, dada few other word. By this age is it normal or he is speech delayed? Also what activities or toys you can suggest for keeping him engaged.Thanks

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy1 Year agoA. development by the age of 2 years the child should be able to speak few words with meaning in the sentence and should be able to understand all the commands and orders
given by the parents and if you feel that they are not present in your child it is important to meet your pediatrician to assess the growth milestones of the child and whether there is any need of therapy or not.
if child has good undderstanding and follows
orders and command of the parents properly then do not worry much about speech as will eventually come. talk more with child. avoid tv mobile laptop. involve more people to interact with the child.
