Q.

hi doctor, I have a cold, please suggest me some medicine and also confirm it will affect my child while feeding?

A. Cold is most of the time because of viral illness and if the child is having recurrent running nose and nasal congestion it may be a part of allergic rhinitis also so it needs a proper examination. steam inhalation will be beneficial in both the cases along with decongestant medicine like alex cold/ hatric 3/ sinarest. As a part of viral illness there could be assdociated symptoms like cough and fever which neeedds treatment accordingly along with a proper hydration needs to be maintained .

A. hi no it will not affect your breastmilk supply and your child. you should continue with breastfeeding because , breastmilk contains antibodies which help your child to fight against viral or bacterial Infections. as you have cold and cough ,I would suggest you to take mixture of honey and ginger in one tsp quantity twice in a day. or drink warm Turmeric milk with roasted ajwain seeds.
