cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation bkooy the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed.
if any fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce the temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

For cold you can give drops wikoryl AF 0.5 ml to the child 2-3 times per day.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child and give nasal saline drops frequently for nasal blockage, simple cough and cold. Indirect steam is helpful.
Home remedies like Tulsi Ginger diluted with water combination (honey can be added after 1 year age)and turmeric withs milk at least 2 times per day.
Give warm water to drink
If no improvement in 2 or 3 days then meet your doctor
paracetamol for fever and pain.
