Q.

Hello sir, am a mom of 20 months old boy, he has a very uncontrollable desire for eating cement, plaster of paris, mud, dirt, biting very very hard things like stones, doors, walls, beds. He's also eating chalk pieces and talcum powder. Please suggest some advice.

A. Hello mom.this condition is called as Pica were in an individual has a liking for non edible things this also relates in his choice to calcium deficency , please get it checked and give supplements and include calcium rich foods such as ragi , green leafy vegetables , dry fruits , nuts and seeds , legumes such as chana , rajma etc , milk

Pica is a disorder where you can see kids would love to eat this kind of thing and for that you can check with your doctor is a very common issue found in kids these days so they can help you with the right supplement that you can follow for the child which is what is going to be beneficial as of now
