Q.

Hello, My daughter fell on back of her head while crawling at 7.5 months. She was normal after that for 7-8 hrs and in the night she started vomiting. she vomitted continuously for 10-12 times. we took her to ER and doctor suggested for CT scan. The reports were normal and Dr concluded that it was stomach infection. But, I came to know from another doctor that having ct scan in baby girl may lead to cancer and hence, I am too worried. I am feeling guilty and overstressed since 7-8 months. can you please help to understand if one paediatric ct scan can lead to cancer.

A. Any Fall injury specially head injury needs to be assessed properly . In any such case certain symptoms needs to be checked like loss of consciousness reccurrent vomiting or any abnormal moment or convulsions . Such case needs immediate medical intervention as there could be some internal injury . Otherwise application of ice locally to reduce the swelling and pain can be done along with some analgesic like paracetamol. Recurrefunt fall injury for a child should be avoided as it can lead to some chronic manifestations occasionally . Also teeth injury should be rule out in any such cfase which is commonly associated and can be easily missed out most of the time .
