Mom of a 8 m old girl6 months ago
Q.

Hello. My baby is 2 months old. She is a formula fed baby. She has around 500-600 mL feed. I feed her every 2 hours or whenever she demands. She has around 60 mL per feed. At night it’s really difficult to wake her up. Even if she wakes up she will not drink willingly. Her birth weight was 2.9 kg and right now she’s 4.2 kg. Tomorrow she’ll be 2 months old. Is it ok if I let her sleep? Or should I wake her up to feed.

A. But you have to look for what is comfortable for the child whatever suggestion I have given you has been based on my gynaecologist advice and trust me I never faced a problem with growth weight gain health issues of my child it was all perfect as per the age

A. I feed her on demand too otherwise I offer her every 2 hours. But ma’am is 500-600 ml feed ok for her age and weight? I’m really confused because even doctors keep insisting on this 2 - 3 hours feeding routine. If I don’t wake her up then she doesn’t complete 600 ml feed.

A. Ma’am two things you are I would like to tell you now specially after 60 days please feed your child on demand whether it is day or night and you should never ever wake up your child from the sleep to feed specially in the nighttime the doctor it impacts the brain and physical growth of your child so please avoid that if your child is sleeping at a stage for six hours then let it be that’s a good sign that your child is full and comfortable as you and I are when we go to sleep it’s the same thing with the child
