Q.

Hello may baby is 54 days old... My baby was kept in phototherapy wen he was 3 days old n same time his umbilical cord also dried n fell... His umbilicus was normal til 6 weeks.. Now its little protruded n looks big.. Wen he yawns, plays n after feeding its looks big... On touch its soft n not hard.. Stomach also normal.. Wat wil be the reason?

A. Wen we touch its soft n if we press slowly it goes inside n becomes normal

A. After birth, the intestines can push through the opening, causing an umbilical hernia. Umbilical hernias are common in infants and newborns younger than 6 months. Symptoms include a slight swelling or even a bulge near the belly button. Please consult with your doctor for the same.
