Q.

Hello.. I am a mother of two and half years old girl baby. my daughter will not sleep properly in the night. She used to wake up many times so kindly suggest why she do like that and how to overcome from that.

A. Sleeping pattern of small babies varies in children and if there is no discomfort or any other cause like infantile colic ,nasal blockage or any kind of pain and if the child is playful and taking proper feeding there is nothing to worry,have patience , this pattern will get normal with time.just keep monitoring your baby for comfortable position and temperature. every baby has its own sleeping pattern which keeps changing with age,only after 5-6 mons of age you can establish a regular sleep cycle gradually with time n age. too much of light and noise may interfere, avoid any excess screen time, fix a regular time, do not allow day time sleep which us not so necessary ,_ec massage the feet of the baby for a relaxed and undisturbed sleep. gentle rocking and patting of the baby, singing a lullaby, and light music will also play a good role. lesser the noise and better the sleep.a sound sleep of 8-10 hrs with a proper diet is sufficient for child's health.

A. Sleep Cycle in smaller babies is very different and they have a certain pattern initially which becomes regularize at around 6 to 8 months of age and if the baby is comfortable with no irritability because of infantile colic nasal blockage any regurgitation etc you should not worry just give a comfortable position to the baby and no medicine is required. In children above one year of age you have to just make a proper discipline for the child so that gradually the child will develop a proper schedule and avoid too much of screen time and other activities at least one hour before sleep also make the room environment and temperature favourable JH for the child to sleep. toddlers may have night terrors and nightmares which needs to be managed accordingly.
