hello i am a diabetic patient so it is safe for my baby if i am give him breastfeed.

Hello I have been unaware of being diabetic and I have been breastfeeding my baby for a long time..now got my blood tests done and got to know about my sugar levels really up..will the baby have any problem?will she have any kind of sugar spikes or will she be diabetic too..she's 21 months old..she's still on breastfeeds..

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 6 m old boy4 years agoA. diabetes is not a contraindication and if you are taking medicine or insulin also then also it is not a contraindication for giving breastfeeding to the child so kindly continue breastfeeding
