Q.

Hello doctor! My daughter (1 year 6 months) has recently started getting cold very frequently. Many times its once a month. Kindly suggest what could be the reason for this and what could be done from my end. Thank you

A. Cold most of the time is a viral illness where there could be running nose sneezing along with cough and it needs supportive care along with proper hydration . steam inhalation will also be useful in this . cough needs to be treated with anti allergic and expectorant bronchodilators or antitussives medicine which should be used once a proper evaluation bytt the doctor is done and according to the type of cough its prescribed. if any fever is there paracetamol can be given to reduce theg temperature and the dose can be repeated again after 6 hours if required .

A. If The cold is frequent with your child that clearly indicates that your child may be suffering with some kind of an allergy which is why there is excessive cold that your child is suffering with every now and then so in this case I am going to advise you to get a check with your doctor the doctor would be able to give you right medicines to reduce on the allergy issue that your child is facing
