Q.

#asktheexperts Hello Doctor, My baby is 2 years old and was born extremely preterm at 26 weeks. His development is slightly delayed, and I would like guidance on a few concerns: 1. **Eating & Chewing:** We are still giving semi-solid foods. We have tried fruits and regular home food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), but my baby does not chew and often refuses to eat. He also does not drink water properly. How can we encourage chewing and transition to solid foods? 2. **Dental Care:** My baby does not allow us to brush his teeth and becomes very uncomfortable. How can we maintain proper oral hygiene and take care of his teeth? 3. **Potty Training:** Considering he is a preterm baby with delayed development, when and how should we start potty training? Any special tips for preterm babies? Kindly advise. Thank you.

A. Mam you have to teach your child to eat the food properly you are already late in that because I do understand that your child is premature child and reaches the milestone a little late but when the child has proper teeth you have to teach your child to eat by chewing the food and you have to make it a practice slowly you have to start doing it for dental care I would advise you to use a good flavour toothpaste which is specifically for kids and which is totally fluoride Free so I would highly recommend to try Babyhug toothpaste and toothbrush and lastly when it comes to potty training you should have started it by the age of 1 1/2 years but now your child is already you should start now otherwise with progressing is the child gets more stubborn and do not cooperate to sit on the commode
