Q.

hello Doctor, my baby is 15 months old and due for varicella vaccine. I stay in Mauritius where chickenpox is eradicated so this vaccine is not available. since we travel to India, I want her to be vaccinated.we will next go to India when she will be 2 years old. can I give her the vaccine then and next dosage at 5 years ? any other suggestions, pls share. thank you.

A. yes can do so chicken pox vaccine is given (first dose) after completion of 15 months of age and the second dosage can be taken anytime after 3 months of the first dosage. also chicken pox vaccine can be given at any age to the child so if you have missed the vaccine earlier then you can give now also and the doctor will tell you what would be the spacing between first dosage and the second dosage
