A. At around 10 months old, many babies can start to transition to cow's milk, but it's essential to do so cautiously and under the guidance of a pediatrician. Here are some considerations: 1. **Introduce Gradually**: Start by offering small amounts of cow's milk mixed with breast milk or formula and gradually increase the proportion of cow's milk over time. 2. **Watch for Allergies or Intolerances**: Monitor your baby for any signs of allergic reactions or lactose intolerance, such as rash, vomiting, diarrhea, or excessive fussiness. 3. **Choose Whole Milk**: Until the age of 2, it's recommended to offer whole milk to ensure your baby gets the necessary fat and calories for healthy growth and brain development. 4. **Limit Quantity**: Offer cow's milk as part of a balanced diet but avoid over-reliance on milk as it can fill up their stomach and reduce appetite for other important foods. 5. **Continue Breastfeeding or Formula Feeding**: Cow's milk should not replace breast milk or formula as the primary source of nutrition until after the age of 1. 6. **Consult with a Pediatrician**: Your pediatrician can provide personalized advice based on your baby's individual needs, growth, and development. Always consult with your pediatrician before introducing cow's milk to your baby's diet to ensure it's appropriate for their age and health status.
