Q.
Hello doctor, My baby has 7months old.she was constipation problem.Doctor suggested 4ml duphalac syrup for my baby.i gave 4times to baby if she didn't pass motion for 3 days.sometimes she did pass motion upto 5 days.is it safe to give duphalac syrup for long time.she is passing motion only when we give syrup.is there any side effects of using syrups for baby.why constipation occurs for babies.what precautions should we take for baby to pass motion daily.

Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy3 years agoA. whenever you introduce food for the child and it is causing constipation you have to stop that particular food whhich is causing constipation and tried to give food which is more rich in fibre and has got plenty of fluids.
it is important to add papaya in the diet which will help in decreasing this problem
and also at the same time see that you are not giving any new outside milk which is again known to cause constipation
