Q.

Hello doctor, I am 35 year old dentist 33 weeks pregnant with second baby. In my level 2 scan doctors told me about SUA in my baby but all other blood reports were normal..but now in my recent scan they told me about horse shoe shaped kidneys of my baby. I know this is a congenital anomaly but is this a major concern that may affect health of my baby? I am so worried about this.. please help

A. Single umbilical artery (SUA) refers to a variation of umbilical cord anatomy in which there is only one umbilical artery. It may be an isolated finding or associated with aneuploidy or other congenital anomalies. also having horse shoe shaped kidney yes is a congenital anomily present but it is not in all cases to be worried about and the person can live a better life if taken proper care of. definitely you would need regular follow ups, for checkup of the baby and if possible you can get the surgery done with consultation of the surgeon

A. Hello this requires a proper medical attention and it is better to check with your doctor and your doctor will be able to guide you better on examination of the same and advise you accordingly which is better and also safe too since you are expecting mother
