A. Hi Mom, GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease, is a long term chronic digestive disorder. It happens when stomach contents flow back up (reflux) into the food pipe. GERD is common in babies. Doctors will almost always advise parents, children, and teens to start with simple lifestyle changes. For ex, Eat smaller meals more often, and avoid eating two to three hours before bedtime. Avoid giving spicy foods, high fat foods, acidic fruits and vegetables, which can irritate stomach. Elevate the head during sleep. Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes.
