but you are mixing two things together.
basically ,both things are different
to look thin and to have low weight gain.
so ..If child is looking thin but having enough weight ,no need to worry.
but if child is having low weight , having other problems like he gets exhusted easily ,having low apetite etc ,you should consult your pediatrician.
Give healthy diet which consist of healthy food items
