Q.

Dear Sir, As baby has completed 5 months what we can add in his diet now as mother's feed is not coming in sufficient quantity and baby is demanding more and more. please suggest some healthy and nutritional items which we can give him.

A. You can start with formula milk if mother's feed is less and initially start with rice kanji dal soup mashed banana ragi porridge rice porridge suji upma kheer steamed apple and introduce one food at a time

A. You can include semi solid foods in baby's diet between the age of 5-6 months. Feed foods like lentil water, khichdi, mixed vegetable soup, pureed apple and pear, mashed banana, ragi and sooji porridge, etc. Start slow and feed 4-6 spoons per serving and twice a day. Remember, milk will still remain the main meal, therefore if you feel breastmilk is not enough, start giving any good formula milk for full and healthy nutrition.
