Q.

Dear doctor I am 45 year old mom suffering from vitamin d deficiency.I recently consulted the orthopedic doctor and after the vitamin d test was done I learned that the values are very low <8.As per the normal person it is 50 or more.I have a 3 year old daughter who was born in 36 weeks since she was not growing so I had to go for planned csection.So my question is was my daughter not growing properly in my womb bec I was vitamin d defficient ?

A. We cannot say if that is the exact reason or not. But in case of maternal vitamin D deficiency there have been cases with the baby is affected and there could also be neonatal seizures. If you continue giving vitamin D for your child up to one year of age afterbirth that should cover up the deficiencyWrite Your Answer Here
