Q.

.At birth my baby weight was 2.5 kg .now she is 4 months old and weight only 4 kg ...at (birth she had respiratory problems)...and was admitted in NICU for 10 days ...now she is alright but not gaining weight...

A. Weight gain in a child is a good indicator for proper health of the child and there should be a regular weight gain as per the age of the child. if there is not a proper weight gain it can be because of many factors and three most important causes are Baby not taking enough calories Baby isf not absorbing the enough calories which the baby is taking Baby is bburning too many calories . So a proper assessment is very important to know the cause regarding this .

A. If your baby's doctor thinks it's necessary, you may have to supplement your baby with additional feedings of either pumped breast milk or infant formula. You can also try to pump and separate your foremilk from your hindmilk. Hindmilk is higher in fat and calories, which can help your baby gain more weight.
