#askthexpert Hi , My 2 year old baby is mostly constipated and hardly eat when he is constipated .And mostly insists on breastfeeding. How to reduce his constipation?Some times he passes stool only after 5-6days

A. dear mum, to relieve constipation for your baby, it is important to include fibrous food like variety of seasonal vegetables, green leafy vegetables and fruits, carrot cucumber , beetroot, papaya, apple, peach banana, prunes whole fruit is better than fruit juice grated and soaked dry fruits Like black currant , prunes, date , figs, nuts like almond, walnut give whole grains like daliya, whole pulses, beans, sprouts avoid refined grains, biscuits and frequent use of bread breastfeed child for enough fluid intake if you are still breastfeeding , also boiled and cooled water intake good fluid intake in form of water buttermilk coconut water encourage at least one hour of outdoor play as physical activity relieves constipation

A. mostly constipation issue and hard stool.. keep baby well hydrated increase the water intake add fibre rich foods as papaya pear sapota apple give curd daily for good digestion raisin water
