#Asktheexpet Hello doctor, I am almost 37 week pregnant now. My gynae has suggested for LFT and CBC. My SGOT and SGPT level is little high. I just wanted to understand that is it normal in 37 weeks of pregnancy or this needs medical attention immediately. However, I am going to see my doctor but needed 2nd opinion in this case. SGOT- 42Units/Ltr SGPT- 84Units/Ltr Alkaline Phasphate- 157 U/L Total Protein- 6.3g/dl

A. Even though the SGOT and SGPT are elevated still we need to know why these tests were done? This would also be due to pregnancy changes but we need to know if you have any other high risk factorsWrite Your Answer Here

A. Hello Dr. Sabiha, My Gynaecologist has suggested for LFT test because of itching. She prescribed Udiliv 300 once a day and Lactocalamine Lotion to apply. My itching issue is resolved after applying lotion within a week. In follow up visit, Gynae has suggested to go LFT test and CBC. That's the only reason for LFT Test.
