Author of questionMom of a 5 yr 7 m old girl1 Year agoA. thankyou doctor for your response, as my child is having a history of seizures earlier, so inorder to maintain the temp, I have asked about meftalp syrup beacuse I gave her p-250, its been 2hrs I gave p-250 but the temp has not come down. so to prevent further rise in temp, thought of giving meftal p as doctor once advised me. but I have a doubt on after how much time to give this meftalp as I gave p250 at 11.30am.
Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children1 Year agoA. Fever is a reaction of the body to different pyrogens released during any Infection. Usually temp more than 99 F is taken as fever .
Mostly in children fever is because of viral infections like flu or RSV where the fever is there for 4-5 days but may persist even upto 2 weeks .
Initially antipyretic like paracetamol is given in a dose of 15 mg / kg/ dose. Can be repeated after 4-6 hrs if needed .
Lukewarm sponge bath can be given as home remedy to decrease fever.
Adequate fluid intake is also beneficial.
Urine output monitoring is necessary to avoid dehydyuoration .
