A. * Gas-Producing Lentils and Legumes: Certain dals—particularly chana dal (split Bengal gram), rajma (kidney beans), chole (white chickpeas), and urad dal—are notorious for causing gas. * Cruciferous Vegetables: Vegetables from the cabbage family, such as cauliflower (phool gobhi), cabbage (patta gobhi), and broccoli, can increase gas production. * Alliums (Onions and Garlic): Raw or heavily consumed cooked onions and garlic can sometimes alter the taste of breast milk and trigger tummy discomfort or reflux in sensitive babies. * Dairy Products: Excess intake of heavy dairy products like paneer, khoya, full-cream milk, and heavy curd can sometimes be difficult for an infant's immature digestive system to process if they have a mild sensitivity to cow's milk protein. * Spicy and Oily Foods: Excessively hot spices (like heavy green/red chillies) and deep-fried foods can sometimes irritate a baby's developing gut lining or lead to acid reflux. * Caffeine and Carbonated Drinks: High intake of strong tea (chai), coffee, and aerated beverages can act as stimulants, making the baby fussy and restless. > Understanding Colicaid Drops Colicaid is a commonly prescribed paediatric drop in India used to provide relief from infant colic, trapped gas, abdominal distension, and hiccups. * How it works: It typically combines Simethicone (an antifoaming agent that breaks down gas bubbles in the digestive tract so they are easily passed) with herbal oils like Dill oil, Fennel (Saunf) oil, and Carom seed (Ajwain) oil, which traditionally help soothe colic pain and aid digestion. * Usage and Safety: * Always consult a paediatrician before administering Colicaid or any other drops to determine the correct dosage based on your baby's current weight and age. * Never self-medicate or alter the dosage frequency.
