Q.

#asktheexperts what should be the hemoglobin during delivery tym

A. During delivery, a pregnant woman’s hemoglobin level should ideally be 12 g/dL or higher to ensure both mother and baby stay healthy. However, levels between 11–12 g/dL are generally considered acceptable and safe. Hemoglobin is important because it carries oxygen to both the mother and the baby. If it drops too low (below 10 g/dL), there is a higher risk of complications like fatigue, poor recovery, and excessive bleeding during or after delivery. In such cases, doctors may recommend iron supplements or even iron injections in the last trimester to boost levels before labor.
