If your son has crossed the milestone of 6 months then the chances are very high that it won't come down naturally so you can opt for surgery. Make sure you go for surgery as soon as he is of 12 months because if you wait for long there might be a chance that the testis that does not descend might become a dead tissue.
Don't worry it's a routine surgery, my son was discharged the very next day after the surgery and it has no where impacted my son's growth. He took his first steps 20 days after the surgery . If you have any queries feel free to ask.

Now my son is perfectly fine and is right testes has also grown.
I would suggest you to meet a pediatric surgeon, they'll guide you in a better way.
