A. many times adenoids and tonsils are enlarged due to recurrent viral or bacterial infections as well as in allergic cough and cold. you have to just control recurrent cough and cold due to any of the reasons acnd the child will not have more than reasonable increase in size of adenoid and tonsils. any surgical intervention is required only if the child is having difficulty in breathing as well as difficulty in swallowing and difficulty in sleeping at night. many times nebulization as well as inhalation sprays are given to decrease the size and you can follow your doctor in this. it is advisable to give flu vaccination to the child which will help in decreasing the chances of viral fever as well as viral cough and cold
