Q.

#asktheexperts my kid is 1 year 9 months old. He is preterm baby born 2 and half months early. He is not walking without support yet. He walks on bed without support for sometime but on floor he is scared so he walks on knee (not crawling) to get what he wants. Whenever it is possible we will correct him to stand and make him walk with support but not always possible. we are concerned that he is not walking without support till now.

A. a baby will start Sitting with support by 6 months of age and by 7 to 8 months baby will sit without support than by 9 months usually baby crawls and in 10 months baby will stand with support. After gy12 to 15 months baby will start Walking independently and sometimes it may take even longer but in no case any Walker should be avoided as it can cause recurrent fall injury and delay in the walking because the child lacks confidence of walking independently.

A. T Maybe that is happening because your child is a freedom child but still buy this is normally kids learn to walk a little bit more and independently because it’s 19 months now so I am going to advise you to get it assessed with your doctor the doctor would be able to give you better clarity on the entire scenario
