Q.

#asktheexperts my baby is 4 months old he weighs 5.9 kg how should I increase baby weight. I do exclusively breastfeed. That too 8 to 10 times per day.

A. Dear ma’am, make sure your baby is latched well and not holding the nipples while feeding. Also feed one breast for one feed completely and if the baby is still hungry then offer the second breast. Do not time the feeding. Allow the baby to feed as long as he/she wants at breast. After direct feeding, you can also express and feed your milk. Above all, please get hands on help from a certified lactation consultant

A. dear Mum the weight for age of baby is absolutely normal and good baby should gain at least 500 gram per month and should double the birth weight by 6 months or less continue exclusive breastfeeding till 6 months complete
