Q.

#asktheexperts My baby is 23 days old and is drinking some 60 70 ml of my expressed milk via breast pump and is sleeping for 2 3 hrs while when he is latching directly from me he sleeps in 10 mins while drinking and then wakes in 1 or 1.5 hrs max. Is this okay. He wakes in every 1.5 hrs in night when on breast feed directly. Is this normal?

A. it's fine you have to give only demand feeding to the child that is whenever the child feels hungry you can give milk to the child and the child will take the milk according to the need and then will leave the milk. if the child is taking more milk you can offer milk in more quantity with intermittent burping . there is no need to to go for fixed feeding pattern. also there is no need to wake up the child from sleep if the weight of thxe child is within normal limits . also if the weight gain of the child every month is normal(more than 600gm/ month) then no need to worry regarding the pattern of breastfeeding / milk intake
