A. If your baby passes stool only once in three days with intense pain and crying, it’s likely constipation, which is common in young children. Hard stools can cause discomfort and even small tears (fissures), worsening the pain. To help, ensure she drinks plenty of water and offer fiber-rich foods like fruits (prunes, papaya, pear), vegetables, and whole grains if she’s on solids. For babies under 6 months, consult your doctor before changing anything. You can gently massage her tummy or move her legs in a cycling motion. If the problem continues or there is blood in the stool, consult a pediatrician — they may suggest a mild laxative or stool softener appropriate for her age.
