#asktheexperts my baby got fever on first vaccination. is it normal?

Dr Sameer awadhiyaGuardian of 2 children1 Year agoA. Post vaccination swelling may be a common thing specially after DPT vaccine which may be painful for two or three days and the swelling may remain even up to month so if it is not causing any pain or other symptoms nothicjng to worry.
Swelling can be reduced by giving ice fomentation locally and paracetamol can be given for fever or pain.
Thzrombophobe ointment can be applied in acute pain and swelling .

POOJA KOTHARIMom of a 8 yr 5 m old boy1 Year agoA. Fever with vaccines is normal, harmless and probably helpful. Reason: fever speeds up your body's immune system. Fever with most vaccines begins within 12 hours and lasts 1 to 2 days. For low grade fevers of 100-102° F (37.8 to 39° C), do not give fever medicines.
