Q.

#asktheexperts My baby girl is born prematurely at 35.3 weeks. Her weight at birth was 2.5 kg. At discharge from hospital her weight was 2.3 kg. Consulting paediatric in the hospital told us that we should not give her bath until her weight exceeds 2.5. I’m bit worried with this as her weight seems not to increase after 8 days of discharge from hospital. Even today it’s 2.3 kg. Secondly her skin quality seems to be deteriorating and getting dry due to no contact with oil and water. Can you please suggest what to do in this case?

A. Well I don’t know why your doctor said that you should wait for your child to be 2.5 KG before you can give a bath it’s not at all like that even if a child is to KG or 1 1/2 KG you can give a bath to the child but I don’t know why this is happening if you want you can take a second opinion from any other paediatrician that we will have much more clarity about it
