POOJA KOTHARIExpecting Mom due in 1 month2 months agoA. Contraction pain usually starts as a tightening or cramping feeling in your lower abdomen or back, similar to menstrual cramps. Here's how to identify true labor contractions:
Regular pattern: They come at consistent intervals and gradually get closer together. Increasing intensity: The pain becomes stronger and lasts longer (30–70 seconds each). Back to front: Pain often starts in the lower back and moves to the front of the belly. Doesn’t go away with movement: Unlike false labor (Braxton Hicks), real contractions don’t ease with rest or position changes. Other signs: May be accompanied by a bloody show, water breaking, or increased pressure in the pelvis.
If contractions are regular and getting stronger, it’s likely true labor. Contact your doctor or go to the hospital if unsure.
