A. Labor pains (true contractions) can be identified by specific patterns and sensations. Here’s how to differentiate them from false labor (Braxton Hicks): Signs of True Labor Pains: ✅ Regular Contractions: Come at consistent intervals and get closer together over time (e.g., every 10 minutes, then 8, then 5 minutes apart). ✅ Increasing Pain: The pain gradually intensifies and lasts longer with each contraction. ✅ Lower Back & Abdomen Pain: Starts from the lower back and moves toward the front of the belly. ✅ Doesn’t Stop with Rest: Walking, lying down, or drinking water does not make them go away. ✅ Mucus Plug or Bloody Show: A pink or brownish discharge may appear before labor starts. ✅ Water Breaking: Clear or slightly yellow amniotic fluid leakage.
