A. Thumb sucking in infants is a very normal phenomenon and its called mouthing reflex and nothing to be worried about it just maintain proper hygiene and with time this thing will go . In the toddlers thumb sucking habit is also seen many a times which could be phycological cause and feeling of insecurity or some stress . Just try to vmake the child comfortable and divert in some activities also spend good time with the child . In extredme case withdrawual can be tried with some solution available which are bitter like femite lotion . It needs to be applied locally .

A. Praise your child when not thumbsucking. Create a chart and reward them for a change in behavior. If your child sucks their thumb when they are tired, comfort them with an alternate security item. You can also try reminding them of their habit by bandaging the thumb or putting a sock or glove on their hand at night.
