#asktheexperts hello doctor. I gained weight after my 2nd baby she is 3 mnths old now ..tummy and hips got very annoying..

A. dear mum, for reducing fat around tummy and hips, you need to reduce your overall weight. as a breastfeeding mother, you should have a balanced diet having variety of food groups. Also increase one healthy meal more as compared to before because requirements of the breastfeeding mother's are high. Coming back to pre pregnancy weight will take some time and consistent efforts, so be patient. Eat mindfully, avoid intake of high fat, sugar and salt containing processed packaged food. You should avoid excess ghee and oil intake. Have lean protein sources and good intake of seasonal fruits and vegetables, small frequent meals. Do not skip breakfast. Have good water intake. Begin to exercise. Brisk walking is the safest, abdominal strengthening exercise like pelvic tilts, crunches help to tone muscles. Exclusive breastfeeding till 6 months and continued breastfeeding till 2 years helps.
