Dr Vandan H KumarFather of a 7 yr 4 m old boy2 years agoA. nasal saline drops can be given again and again to the child because it is salt water which will help in decreasing the nasal blockage by clearing the mucus
try to prevent temperature variations around the child which is the most common cause of cough and cold in small children.can give indirect steam inhalation .
anti-cold medicines at this age have got side effects so can be given only after medical consultation.
for fever andx pain give paracetamol
continue the regular diet which is being given to the child

Cough is a protective reflex of the body to expel out the mucus or any irritant factor from the respiratory tract which is most of the time assosiated with cold due to any viral or bacterial infection . A proper examination is required to find the cause .
As a home remedy you can start with steam inhalation . Cough can be treated with cough sugoppressant or antitussives as per the cause. For cold antihistamines are useful and nasal saline drops are also benifecial .
